SASHA'S CATARACT SURGERY FUND
Meet Sasha, the newest member of the Marty’s family. Sasha is a sweet, 7 year old Husky girl who gets along with everyone, human and canine alike. She loves to snuggle on the couch and play with the stuffed Lambchop toy she brought with her when she moved in.
Sasha hasn’t had an easy life. Found wandering the streets alone 5 years ago, Sasha was taken to a shelter and put on the euthanasia list. Luckily, she was temporarily taken in by a Good Samaritan, then adopted into a loving home. She found her way to us as circumstances changed dramatically in her home.
If transitioning to a new environment isn’t challenging enough, Sasha has diabetes and severe cataracts. Imagine how scary it must be to find yourself in an unfamiliar place, hearing strange voices and not being able to see. Sasha is a remarkable, resilient girl, though, and gets around by following those voices and touching walls with her nose. On her first day with us, she quickly discovered the location of the food closet!
Good News! Sasha was examined by our veterinary ophthalmologist and is a candidate for cataract surgery. What we want for sweet Sasha is a better quality of life, so she can enjoy her golden years in comfort and possibly be adopted to a family that will love and enjoy her as much as we do.
Sasha’s surgery is a big expense for our small sanctuary and our medical budget is constrained. As a result, we reached out to friends and followers of our facebook page to help us raise the funds needed for Sasha’s surgery and aftercare. We also ran a “Tricky Tray” for her surgery fund at our Howl-O-Ween Family Fest event on October 22, 2017.
Our donation goal was $5,000 -- and we’re thrilled to report that we’ve reached it. People were wonderfully generous, and we truly appreciate that. The next step is scheduling her surgery!
We will be keeping you posted about her progress here and on our facebook page.
