Our adoption program enables us to save the lives of more dogs by finding them homes where they can receive the degree of love and quality care that they need and deserve.  We take the time needed to find the best matches, being mutually beneficial to the dog and family. It is important that potential adopters are ready to take on the commitment that comes with a senior dog, in exchange for the unconditional love and incredible appreciation that comes from welcoming an older dog into your home.

Adopting can be a very rewarding experience. By opening your heart to a senior dog, you give them a second chance at love and happiness. Their gratitude and unconditional love will shine through in every wag of their tail, creating an incredible bond that is heartwarming and nourishing.

By adopting one of our dogs, not only will you be saving a senior pet in need, but you’ll be freeing up space in our sanctuary for another pet ready to find a new home.   Some of the additional benefits include:

• Senior dogs are often less demanding than puppies.
• Senior dogs have been trained, making it easier to bring them into your home.
• Senior dogs are already socialized and ready to bond with a human companion.
• The maturity and life experience of a senior dog can contribute to a more calm and stable disposition.
• Having a dog, has been proven to reduce stress, anxiety and depression, ease loneliness, encourage exercise, and improve your overall health.

If you are interested in opening your heart and home to a senior dog, by adopting one of our sanctuary residents, here are a few basics:

• You must be 21 years of age.
• An adoption application must be submitted. (click through to application)
• Our foster & adoption coordinator will contact you for an initial interview.
• Our foster & adoption coordinator will schedule a meet & greet at the sanctuary.  At that time our program guidelines will be reviewed in detail.
• A follow-on in home visit may be suggested.
• Processing of your application, including reference checks will determine final approval.
• If approved, an adoption agreement will be completed.
• A minimum tax-deductible donation of $100 is requested, we appreciate more if you are able.

A few guidelines:

• We cannot place a dog in a home with unaltered pets.
• We cannot place a dog in a home where pets are not current on vaccinations and/or do not receive heart worm and flea/tick preventatives year-round.
• We do accept records of titer testing in lieu of vaccinations.
